DAY ONE of Contest Prep!! - 16 weeks out!

I'm not quite off to the roaring start I thought I was going to be. I didn't sleep enough last night and didn't drink enough water yesterday so my sleep wasn't fantastic. I just had too much cooking to do and started too late. Lesson learned, note taken. My energy level was low when I started the day and through most of the day but after my weight workout tonight I felt better and more energetic. I'm still tired though so it's going to be a really early night for me.

So this morning I did the stepmill on speed training, starting at level 6 for about 10 minutes then up to level 7 for about 10 minutes and finished off at level 8 for 25 minutes. It was actually a great workout! Tonight I had shoulders. I'm feeling pretty good about my shoulder workouts. I'm feeling pretty strong.

All my meals were right on today. I have figured out though that I am really sensitive to Splenda. So Metabolic Drive is not going to be the protein powder for me. I like MGN (Muscle Gauge) because it doesn't make me super thirsty like the Splenda in MD. I'm fine when I cook/bake with the MD though and it is the best tasting for that and also rises well.

Meal 1) spelt flakes and protein powder "milk"
2) egg whites and oatmeal
3) fish, brown rice medley, zucchini w/ chili garlic sauce
4) protein shake, rice cakes with peanut butter
5) shrimp and cucumbers
6) salad with "turkey italian sausage" and artichokes with balsamic vinaigrette
7) will be egg white veggie omelet

So off to a good start, just not the FIREWORKS start I had planned! It can only get better though so I'll keep you posted as the time goes by.

I don't know if you've seen this video but I just love it! Love it, love it, love it! Of course it helps that I'm a Black Eyed Peas fan!

I also had Michael McDonald on my ipod this morning. It was "No Looking Back". The lyrics that I find appropriate are these:

I can't hold on, I can't return
Time to let go, start to live and learn

I can't hold on, I can't return
Rivers will run, bridges will burn
I'm not sure just how
But there's no lookin' back now

That's right!!! No lookin' back now...NO LOOKIN' BACK NOW!!!

I've used this quote before and I find it appropriate to use it here once again!

“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.” ~Maria Robinson
